Lunatica…..
Lunatica was a challenging build, I thoroughly enjoyed it! It was a gratifying experience to be building our second show garden and be able to have enough of a clear head to step back and soak it all in and remind myself what an incredible and rare opportunity I was in the midst of. With Subaqua I was so unsure of the process in a show garden setting and all the potential problems and wanting it to come in on time that I forgot to really enjoy and appreciate the experience. I still did but in a much less rounded fashion.
The plunge pool area was incredibly satisfying to see come to life, there where three notable things about it which got my juices going. The moon phase stepping stones floating above the water, in drawings I found it appealing but seeing it and feeling it in real life it was so much better than I could have hoped! The stretched waxed canvas as the underside of the roof over the pool was a fairly last minute decision, I had been thinking I would clad it, but I am so glad I went with this, I think it added a real sense of calm to that area. Finally the blade I got from the plunge pool surround overflowing to the plunge pool was everything I had hoped it would be, seeing that working, having done the required pump calculations and it actually worked!!

Groundbreaking show garden to empower gardeners to address national water crisis
- Lunatica – Possibly one of the most ambitious gardens on the avenue for some years. It combined huge Corten structures with a deep plunge pool (that had its own mechanical lowering platform) a washroom and some lovely planting. Incorporated in a real message of water preservation. It won GOLD.
